Is it bad that my ball hasn't pooped yet?
Hi new owner. I have had my baby pied ball for about a month now. She has eaten twice after waiting a week to feed her to acclimate. No problem at all. Only thing is she hasn't pooped yet. And yesterday when I went to feed her after a week after her last meal she didn't take. Unsure if she may be going into shed and that's why or if she's backed up. Any advice would be great!

Normal! Baby snakes eat "baby" rodents that are mostly digestible (small bones, little or no hair) so there's very little left as waste...it often takes a number of
meals before a snake needs to 'go'. Wish I had a buck for every time this is asked here, lol. Keep snakes for a while, you'll get plenty of snake-poo...
Anyway,

No such thing as a dumb question though...I can assure you that for every question asked, others are wondering the same thing. You're lucky, wasn't an
internet, much less a forum, when I started keeping lots of snakes.

Agreed. Your snake will poop when she needs to. You may be right about an upcoming shed, they will often refuse food and hold on to their poop if a shed is coming. Keep your eyes open for a punk belly, dulled skin and cloudy eyes.
Also, what type and size prey are you feeding and how much does the snake weigh? If the meals are too small the entire prey item may be used to sustain growth, so there may be nothing left to poop out.

Pretty sure Craig meant to say to watch for a "pink belly". At least I've never seen any snakes with punk scales...

Re: Is it bad that my ball hasn't pooped yet?
I just recently went thru this same exact thing. My baby normal was eating just fine but didn't poop for a little over two weeks and it had me stressed all the way out. I too posted a thread about it and everyone assured me it was perfectly normal and they were right because a couple days later he pooped and boy was it a big one! Hang in there and try not to stress out about it. Happy Thursday!

Re: Is it bad that my ball hasn't pooped yet?
I agree with everything that's been said here.
However, I would add to check your temps. If your hot and cool side are dialed in, no worries.
If your hot side or cool side is too hot or too cold, then your BP will not properly thermoregulate and may have trouble digesting and pooping.
I assume it's what everyone else said; small and young prey items equals less poop, they don't poop all the time anyway, especially when growing, etc.
What are your temps on the hot and cool side? Humidity would be helpful as well.
