Re: My breeder mouse 'rack'....
In the small rubbermaids....in 2 of them, 2 females that have just spent time with the male and in 1 of them, 1 male and one female.
In the medium rubbermaids...Each has 1-2 females that are about to have litters...if there is only going to be 1 litter I usually put in a 'helper' mom
In the 10 gallon tank...whatever....I will usually move a mom and her litter to the 10 gallon when the babies get a little bigger.
A few are empty right now....I got carried away the other day and fed a few breeders

Re: My breeder mouse 'rack'....
That setup looks pretty darn close to mine! Tubs are the best for rodents and reptiles...so much time saved in cleaning. I have 3 small tubs about the size your using for mice, but I've cut back to just a few females and started freezing mouse pinks. I've got 3 big tubs for rats and am working on moving over to mostly rats. I have been holding back one rat female with each of the last litters to build a new "stock" of breeders. I just pulled two females out of the male's tub after an 8 day visit so we'll see in a week or so if they did the deed or not.

Re: My breeder mouse 'rack'....
ha ha....I am glad to see that I am not the only on that looks at bookshelves as racks
...those easy assemble, cheap bookshelves and storage units are great if you can find one the right size for what you need....sometimes when I am grocery shopping I end up walking back and forth between the tub and shelves areas trying to figure out what tubs I can fit on what bookshelf

Re: My breeder mouse 'rack'....
LOL Daniel I do that sort of stuff all the time. Stop in the sewing/craft area of WalMart and grab a cloth measuring tape. Soft and scrunchy and fits in your pocket for handy dandy tub/shelf measuring!

Re: My breeder mouse 'rack'....
i have my rodents on a corner shelving unit, its made by rubbermaid and kinda utilizes the space better. I have no idea what model it is it was the only one we saw at menards when looking for another shelf unit and this has worked out great...very heavy duty 4 levels including the very bottum and top. The female rat tubs sit on the very top, smaller mouse tubs on the next one down and the rat stud in his tub on the 3rd. The last shelf is usually full of computer parts from builds, repairs, replacements i do on the side but I'm slowly clearing that out as I may need that space for more rodents!

Re: My breeder mouse 'rack'....
Hmmmm I tried Sterlite containers for mice and rats and both held WAY too much humidity. How are you dealing with that? I had holes around the top and in the lid everywhere and it didn't matter. I would much prefer Sterlite to cleaning tanks but the humidity is a real problem since I do believe that is what killed off my mice. They all got coughy and died.
