Fortunately I only lost the one (boa from a sketchy pet shop, purchased before I knew better) and she never made it out of QT.

Re: F-10 not the be-all and end-all for disinfection?
Fun fact: As a kid, I, along with half of my daycare, contracted Crypto while playing in a splash pad type area at a zoo in the 90's. It was not fun, and my sister and I ended up hospitalized for a few days. The water area was closed shortly thereafter.
I can't even imagine the kind of dramage Crypto would do to a snake. :/

Different strains affect reptiles. The disease is 100% fatal.

From what I was reading, a few different illnesses share some of the symptoms with Crypto, but the swollen belly is typical for a Crypto infection. Did your animal display that swollen mid section?
I'm glad you didn't loose more animals, glad you figured this out before that snake came out of quarantine. All in all you were quite fortunate, as terrible as this must have been..

She didn't until just before she passed away. Both the vet and I suspected crypto and had her tested twice, each was a false negative. The necropsy confirmed it.

2 false negatives? That makes it even more concerning. Are false negatives common with that illness?
Seems like a truly nasty one, given it can hide for years, is 100% fatal, extremely difficult to eradicate and false negatives during testing.

It depends on the test there are different tests
Acid fast stained and ELISA which both require the animal to be actively shedding occyst at the time of the test to be detected.
PCR which is about DNA since crypto DNA has been mapped.
