    Question about temperature

I’m new here. My daughter is getting a ball python at the reptile show tomorrow if she finds one she likes. I have a tub set up with heating pad. Holes drilled. A temperature control and accu-rite thermometer. It doesn’t have a probe but sits in the container. Our temp gun reads 90-92 on the hot spot and 72-75 on the low spot. The accu-rite I got reads humidity 59 and temp 77. Is that going to be ok?

What are you using for substrate and are you taking the temperature under the substrate?

Right now no substrate. I was going to start with paper towels or I can get something at the show. I did put a bowl of water so I can check the humidity.

    Re: Question about temperature

The temps sound good to me. My only question would be are you using a thermostat on the heat pad? If your room temp fluctuates that could affect the temp in the tub.

It is sittin on the heat side as of now. I just thought it would be warmer in there, but maybe it’s the belly heat that matters? I just want to make sure it’s right before she brings it home.

If your cool side is 72f you might want to get something to warm it up a bit. A CHE or RHP would heat things up but you need a thermostat for those also.

You'll definitely want to get the cool side temps up. 75 is the absolute low, but 80ish-82 is preferred.

The hot spot coukd come down a bit as well. I go 90 at the absolute max

What is CHE and RHP? I think I’m going to try moving the tanks to another part of the room. The AC vent may be too close.
