Re: Heat pad
Oh. You just have a temperature gauge. You need a thermostat to regulate your temps. You could try adding a little more substrate in that area maybe.

What do you have your thermostat set to? Is it an on/off style or proportional?
Your thermostat probe for heatpads should be OUTSIDE the cage sandwhiched between the heatpad and bottom of the cage floor. Having it in your ball python's hide risks being dislodged or having your ball pee on it which can cause temperature spikes or misreadings.
Unless you meant a thermoMETER and not a thermoSTAT?

Ah okay so it sounds like you have a thermometer and not a thermostat.
A thermometer simply measures and reads temperature. A thermostat regulates your heat sources. Unplug your heat pad for now and please look into getting a thermostat ASAP.
Jumpstart is a decent budget friendly thermostat to start with but keep in mind it's an on/off style thermostat.

However if you can, I recommended getting a Herpstat from Spyder Robotics. Their proportional thermostats are top notch and very reliable with a very long life span! They've recently released more affordable models too!

All heat sources need to be regulated

One of the only reasons I downloaded crapatalk.
Found it on one of my old thumb drives a couple weeks ago.
