My youngest female BP (the little girl with the psudenomas infection and other issues) ate her first Frozen Thawed prey item tonight! Hopefully I'm done buying live mice!
When she was sick we had the hardest time getting her to eat anything until Adam W. recommended I give her a live hopper at dusk. She's been a reliable eater (and grow-er) since. Usually every other feeding we offered her a frozen/thawed small mouse or fuzzy. She would litterally recoil from the f/t prey like it was the plauge.
On a whim my wife thawed an extra adult mouse tonight and she struck at it. She was sitting on her water bowl and had trouble getting to it, so we offered her a second F/T adult and she struck and ate it. I have noticed that the bigger f/t mice are STINKY, so I'm wondering if it's the smell that was missing from the smaller f/t's that she didn't like.
So she's eaten her largest mouse to date, and it's an F/T! woo hoo.
Now I need to solve the otherwise-healthy-but-not-eating western hognose issue I have going on.
