I found a copy of the crayon drawing on Google Images. Credit for the drawing is, as always, yours. I found this super helpful when I was new at this, so definitely don't want it to be gone for good!

    Aw...there it is !!!

I still say lets send Pit some Crayons !!!

We need him to do another drawing. One that goes with FAT probes or "stuck on" UTH's. When the probe has to be UNDER the UTH, but touching it securely, staying in place, and keeping the enclosure level (by putting some sort of firm foam or something under it..)

Just so that no-one feels the need to put the probe inside of the enclosure, just because it can't be sandwiched between UTH and tank..

I only have pens and a highlighter, so here's a stand-in based on the original...

This should hold us until we can get Pit some crayons.

    Re: Probe Placement spin-off

But when someone already has an UTH stuck in place I don't see any reason to tell them they have to peel it up and risk damage just to put the probe under it.
That’s not a valid reason, that’s a “I am cheap reason” and before anyone says “Not everyone has the money to get a new UTH” than think again.

    UTH $30

Burn due to a probe that is not where it should be $100+ and that is if the animal is not so severely burned that he must be put down.

The amount of liquid from a ball python will not cause damaging heat fluctuations.
Yes it will than again your BP is 400 grams mine are 2000 to 4000 grams, so again you we are not talking about the same amount of fluid. , guess your BP can't really tip a water dish either

I don't know why people seem to think experience has anything to do with this. I have had reptiles including ball pythons a little over 10 years but have recently changed things up a bit. This is the first time I've had a probe set up like this but it's simply not as dangerous as many of you say.
You're right should have mention experience and COMMON SENSE obviously some people have one without the other.

You can have the probe inside. Under the right circumstances, as I've said. That's all I've said. Not saying it's better, but it's an option if you want to take the precautions I have.
There is and that is called a dummy tub in a rack where the probe is secured in the tub but where there is no animal no no water, and honestly no one does that.

You can keep telling yourself that YOU are right and keep YOUR probe where it is, I honestly DON"T CARE however I am not gonna let you give potentially dangerous advice on this forum, neither are the people who have been here for a while.

    And as my ;

OP you are wrong - but I hope you never have to learn why. But I've only been keeping them 24 years so I may be wrong.
