Fungal infection?
I got Syd out tonight and something about her head looked strange to me. There was a scale that stuck out that I didn’t remember noticing before. Luckily, I’m obsessed with her and have 1000 pictures, so I went back and looked at pictures from a few days and weeks ago. That part of her head has always had a dark spot but now it seems like there is one scale that is lighter? Or maybe I’m imagining things.
Let me know what you think.

If it does look like a fungal infection..... what do I do? Vet?

Not seeing close enough & only one scale, but IF it's a fungal infection (& very well could be- BPs seem a little prone to this with their warm humid cages),
what works is a topical miconazole nitrate 1% (spray or cream, "for dogs & cats") but you'll need a prescription for it. ("Conofite" etc.)

Yeah, my phone won’t seem to get in focus any closer than that.
Here’s another attempt but I’m not sure it’s any better lol.
I might just go to the vet as soon as I can get an appointment, but I hate to stress her out over nothing.
In the meantime should I put paper towels down or something? Idk. She’s acting normal, and I try not to freak about little stuff because I can tend to be an anxiety ridden worrier lol. But that one scale instantly struck me as odd.

Honestly it looks just like when my snake decided to explore her new cage and felt it was ok to try and repeatedly shove her head through the air holes (yeah...they're smaller now). Her scales were pale, some visibly scratched and some just lighter than those around them. Especially if you say it was lifted up, she may have just caught it on something the wrong way..it should shed out fine during her next cycle . again though, I'm NO expert and if it gets worse see a vet for sure!

It's not a big deal, not an emergency. I had a BP many years ago that got this, that's how I know what it looks like...pretty distinctive. It does spread to
other scales though if you wait too long...it's annoying that in colder weather you'd have to stress out your snake just to see a vet for something you should
be able to get OTC...but apparently it's still only by Rx. Up close, the scale sorta looks dehydrated & rough when it's this fungal thing...what's her humidity
at? Might want to lower it some, but I can't promise this will go away on it's own. I've seen another post on here asking what this is, also a BP. It's not rare.

Re: Fungal infection?
Here’s an image for reference, the two scales on the left side of her head are visibly lighter (the top more so from glare, in reality it looks just like the lighter one below it). These two in particular aren't raised but a couple of them have been in the past.

Her humidity is actually on the lower side lately, thanks to having to turn our heat on... around 45-50% unless it’s during the couple of hours after I misted, when it’s 60-70%. However, I don’t mist that frequently - maybe a couple of times a week or something.
She does explore at night so maybe she scraped it on something. Not sure. It doesn’t appear raised really, though.

You can wait, if it's fungal, there will be more. (it's not likely for a snake to scrape one exact scale...scrapes don't respect scale
boundaries.)

Cool. I think I’ll just keep an eye on it and see what happens - if it goes away, or stays the same, I won’t bother with it. But if it starts to spread I will address it.

BTW, check the body too, it doesn't just stay on their heads, but for some reason that's a common place, or maybe it's just
easier to notice there?
