    Ball Python Off Feed Cycle

My 1 year old male BP refused feeding last week and again today. I know BPs do sometimes go off feed but how long until I should be concerned? He had never missed a meal up until last week so he has been gaining weight. He's always been a little slower to react to the mouse or rat being offered but the last two attempts he's completely tried to avoid the rat. Enclosure temps are good, warm side running between 90-92 degrees cold side 79-81 degrees, humidity between 50-60%.

    What do you think?

Re: Ball Python Off Feed Cycle

I have had my ball pythons go off feed for months. If they start to loose a bunch of weight that would be a concern. Mine right now has been off for a month at the moment.

You've got months before you need to start worrying. Keep track of weight and only offer every two weeks if he's on a food strike.

I have one that refuses to eat every so often. The longest he's gone is 2 months. I just make sure he has fresh water and keep my husbandry spot on and he eventually eats. He never loses much weight. It's nerve wracking but I've learned to live with it.
