Mystic Aquarium - Mystic Connecticut, USA

Today, Katie and I went to the Mystic Aquarium, in Mystic Connecticut, for a date day! If anyone is in CT, or the tri-state area, I highly recommend the aquarium. http://www.mysticaquarium.org

We pet sharks, fed and pet stingrays, and saw some pretty incredible animals, including a pair of Beluga Whales!

On top of all that, I had bought Katie a backstage pass to spend some quality time with a seal in a small group. She got to pet it, have it do a trick (swirl), and even dance with it!

She had a blast. I had a great day as well. It was great to see Katie so happy though. She's been super stressed with work of late and actually got a 3 day weekend! Today was the aquarium and yesterday we spent the day at the arcade! I am relieved she got some R&R.

You can either paint with a beluga whale (yes they taught them to paint), have a private beluga "encounter," or you can do a trainer for the day and work with all the animals.

    http://www.mysticaquarium.org/visit/encounters/

Most of the encounters are seasonal (May - October).

There may be an age limit/restriction, but I don't remember. You'll have to read the fine print!

Thanks for sharing, Dakski!! Those are some great pics. I'm glad you and Katie had a nice day.

I've always gone to Boston and the New England Aquarium, but my brother went to Mystic last year and says it's a thousand times better, so my aquarium adventure will be Mystic.

Mystic is a great place. We used to go to the Aquarium in Boston, but that place is like being in a damp basement. Why they build the aquarium out of concrete is beyond me....

But Mystic is gorgeous! Spacious, interactive, and educational. You just can't beat it.
