Mad love for Rainbow and some of my other herps.

Took the snakes out to Petco this weekend and did some education. I need to get someone to photograph when I do it. All my snakes got mad love. Only grabbed 2 quick photos. Was a busy day.

What's their policy on bringing snakes to the store? Can you just show up or do you need to arrange something in advance?

I have an arrangement with the store. They work hard to improve their husbandry after I showed up one day and worked to educate them. Now they let me call a hour or 2 in advance and bring them out. I see people carrying their snakes in the store more often now. I think you have to build a relationship to do more than just walk through the store with one in hand. Everyone there are supper supportive of education and animal care. It has to do with the management caring so much in this case. Walk softly when you begin and build a relationship. Go from there.

Was this an organized demonstration or did you just bring your pets? My local ones are notorious for poor reptile care and mites so Id never risk bringing mine in or shopping there and bringing them back to my collection. I hope your good intentions don't come back to bite you!

I have worked with them for a few months now and helped them grow in their care and I have a relationship with the management to do this from time to time. I call ahead of time to make sure is a good day and time to do it.

FYI, Petco periodically has promotions where they not only show off their own reptiles (Reptile Rally) but also invite customers to bring theirs. As far as I've
seen in my local Petco, some customers routinely shop with their pets, usually dogs (must be leashed or restrained, ie. held) but I'm sure they'd not turn
down a shopper with another type of pet either, as it tends to promote their sales. Only thing though is the risk of transmission (mites etc) but I've not seen
any in local store, not like that's a guarantee though.

The only reason I support this particular store is their dedication to animal care is amazing.

I believe the petco by me does a thing with zoomed every year, I went once with my daughters but we didn’t bring any if our boys. It was fun for what it was worth. More power to you, far as mites I would be equally if not more afraid of mites at my local herp swap.

I encourage my customers to bring their reptiles. And those of us who own snakes bring ours in all the time. I live seeing people's animals and all of them are welcome at my store. No need to call. And if you have snakes.....I will take them from you and kiss them, and love them, and call them George! Lol
