Females ever eat while gravid?
I have a female that I thought I witnessed an ovulation then a couple weeks later she shed. So I thought it was countdown time til eggs but a couple weeks after the shed she seemed very interested at feeding time so I offered her a rat and she took it without hesitation. Now she’s got me wondering if she even took this year. Do they ever eat after ovulation before they lay eggs?

If I believe they are going to lay I start the countdown again after the next shed following the feeding event.
Honest, I only need one more ...

Re: Females ever eat while gravid?
in my experience it is rare that gravid female will eat, some do. i've had 2 females eat a small a meal week prior to laying this season. if you witnessed a ovulation she will be laying for you. congrats

In 10+ years I had 1 female BP eating 1 meal after ovy (that was within a week of her ovy)
So that's not something that happens often.

Re: Females ever eat while gravid?
I had a similar thing happen to me with 2 females this season, thought they were gravid, witnessed many locks with the males, and they weren't eating through breeding.
They ended up not going for me this time, they both have laid before but I guess they re absorbed their follicles :/
Only had 1 female go for me this season out of the 3 I was breeding.
