Now, oddball question for those of you who have had baby boas. Did any of them have any odd aversions to textures or touch?

yes, I've seen this before with baby boas, just randomly and not very often. They seem to grow out of it as they age and get more confident.

I'm glad to hear it isn't unheard of, even if it isn't really common! Did you notice if the babies that react like that tend to use hides more than others?

My guy seems to like sitting next to them or in corners of the bin instead of in the hides. If it is a confidence thing, I would have thought there may be a relation to using hides more as a baby.

No, but I didn't really look for this (I didn't notice who used their hides more than others in litters that were born here). I used a rack system for babies so not super easy to see if or when they were in the hides.
Sometimes they'll sit in the corners because it feels more secure (more of the body touching surfaces) than actually being in the hide.

Yes, colors fade and all boas get yellow coloration as they age so albinos/sunglows (since missing the black) get very yellow as adults. Definetely good information to know

I saw a boa at a local shop, an adult male sunglow according to the worker. It was very very yellow with very little orange, even on the tail. He is owned by the store owner and is just a display animal in the back area. I wonder some if it is a sunglow and not just albino due to how little orange he has as an adult. I dunno.

I think I posted Cas's mom earlier in the thread, but here's that picture again. She's an adult sunglow, so hopefully Cas will hold his orange like her despite being kahl strain (kahl has weaker adult colors as far as I hear, at least compared to the sharp line)

Of my little boas wasn’t in there hides unless in shed or just eaten so was on show a lot
This is my little sunglow when I first had her she is a Kahl sunglow too
and this is her now at two and half she still has a fair bit of orange

Yeah, I wonder about the one at the store now. It looks much more like the adult albino picture that April posted above. Just a little light orange along the tail and none anywhere else.

Parents genetics will play a big role in how nice the babies will turn out. Yours has a good looking sunglow mom that kept a lot of color so chances are yours will as well.
The mom of the bino baby I posted was a big yellow banana, she had no tail color to speak of and that baby was the one with the most color. The sunglow you saw at the store might be an albino but it could very well be a sunglow, just one that didn't hold much color.

The breeder I bought from was the ONL one at the expo with any albino or sunglows at all. There were a few albinos, 3 female sunglows siblings to mine and Cas was the only male sunglow. I didn't want the size of a female just yet (or ever... we shall see).
Even if the momma is 6 or 6.5 foot according to the breeder. Dad is only 5 foot.
