Congrats to Ovi and the Caps

I'm not a Washington Capitals fan, by any means. But I am a HUGE fan of Alexander Ovechkin. He deserves to have his name etched in the greatest prize in all of sports, The Stanley Cup. And now, after 14 years of "almost", his name will be on the Cup forever.
The man is an amazing talent and he and Sidney Crosby helped bring hockey out of a "slump" and back into the forefront (kinda). The Ovi vs Sid "The Kid" rivalry was stellar from day one and still remains so all these years later. Crosby has won 3 Cups, despite being a giant crybaby. Ovechkin has come close a bunch of times, until now. Now the man who has never scored less than 30 goals in a season, while being a gritty, hard-nosed winger, is a Champion. No longer will his name be alongside names like Dan Marino, Ted Williams, or Karl Malone. No longer will he arguably be the best player to never win a Cup.

Congratulations to Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals for fighting through 82 regular season games and the most grueling 2 months in sports, the NHL Playoffs, to finally raise Lord Stanley!

I am also not a Washington Caps fan, but I respect Ovi. He's come close so many times, but didn't have all the pieces in place.

Congrats to him and the Caps. They earned this one.

Although I was really cheering on Vegas - love seeing teams beat all odds - I am happy for Ovi. Good for him. On the other hand, I wouldn't have cried any tears for him if Vegas had won!

I heard a joke a few years ago

Q: what do you call a White Russian with no cup?
    A: an Oveckin!!

    Now it's obsolete!

I was happy to see the Knights go as far as they did, it was great to watch. However, as soon as the Bruins were out I was all in on Ovi and the Caps.
