Humidity control

Before I get a bunch of garbage I know I have him in the wrong type of tank, my turtle died and I had an opportunity to rescue him and reuse the tank. Anyways I got a ball python and I'm having trouble keeping up the humidity. I got a large water bowl, switched from aspen to coconut, recently got a humidity box, and tried the wet towel trick. Is there anything else I could try? The heating lamp just seems to suck up all the humidity. It's 25-30% with the light on and 50-60% percent when it's off. The heating pad does nothing.

I use a few tanks successfully ..

What kind of lid /hood ??

I put Perspex over the mesh lids of mine and taped the edges . Tape is outside the tank

I also use Orchid bark ( do you guys call it ReptiBark) as it's great for controlling humidity ( high or low )

I got a screen lid now but I'm thinkin about trying to make a custom one out of some type of plexiglass like material

First off, it's not the "wrong tank", it's just not the "best tank". I've successfully used glass for many years. It's just a little more work.

I wrap the outside (back, two sides and top) in 1/2" foam board insulation. It helps with heat and humidity control.
A) it keeps heat in, requiring less artificial heat from lamps.
B) it's foil wrapped on one side, so I put that side down on the screen and it holds humidity in.
C) it also blocks the back and sides providing security for the snakes.

All that said, there are countless ways to boost humidity. Adding a second water bowl helps, sphangnum moss in spots helps, etc...etc...

Lotta good suggestions from Craig, I cover the top of my screen in 3 sheets of foil (shiny side down) and cover the top it in duct tape. Cut out a 2"x2" square at each end for ventilation, as well as a circle for my CHE (found CHE to be more effective than light bulbs in terms of drying out tank less, as well as many other reasons). Scatter some damp sphagnum moss as Craig mentioned, bigger water bowl under the heat lamp is good too. Still will require misting, however I cheat, I have a humidifier hooked up to a hygrostat

I ended up taking a plastic ceiling light cover and cut it to cover the top part of the screen and drilled holes so I could zip tie it to the top. It works for the humidity but I'm gonna look into the siding for the heat.
