    Potty training..

or is he just telling me what he thinks about the food ??

Smeagol has 2 choices of food. Usually the Repashy he was fed before he came to me. Although I mix the mango with the "grub" one. He seems to prefer that and its on his ledge.

Then he has food on the bottom. Usually some Pangea mix.

This is the third time I find his poop in the Pangea bowl.

Is there a message somewhere ? Does he want a little toilet bowl on the bottom? Dislike the food ?

He is one funny dude !!!

10-11yrs ago, I got my son a female Russian tortoise that has developed quite a personality.

When I come home I hear her scrambling to the side of her enclosure that her food dish is on. She waits, not so patiently, by the glass and I have to hand feed her a piece while I am breaking up the rest and mixing in some vitamin dust and calcium dust.

If I take too long to go to her enclosure and feed her (and what constitutes “too long” varies and is totally at HER discretion), she will climb into her food dish and drop me a surprise, while still keeping her eyes trained on the glass doors.

Is the Pangea bowl empty? If so, he may be expressing that he wants more.

If he is leaving “gifts” on top of the uneaten food, he may be expressing his most sincere and genuine request for a different menu.

Oh, the food bowl is full and untouched each time, LOL.

    Different flavors, too..

There are 2 bowls on the bottom, water and food, right next to each other in a little holder. He always poops into the food bowl. I though it was coincidence at first, but really buddy?

Well, it makes it easy to find his poop I guess...

That is to funny about the tortoise ! Love those Russians, very, very pretty !!

Some cresteds have a preference for pooping in their food or water dishes. It is totally a thing that they do. To make it less likely, make sure the food dish is not directly under any perches or other things that the gecko might be resting on when it poops. You can also try moving the dish somewhere else to see if that will break the habit if it is not a case of simply falling into the dish from a perch.

He fills up on his favorite and then poops in the other. Because he's a dork.

If the food is on the cage floor they will poop in it, if it's elevated they will poop less in it or not at all
