Did my mind fly the chicken coop?
Ok crazy question...?
I was browsing ebay for reptile cages just to see what I stumbled across and I come by in the related searches these wooden rabbit or chicken type cages...
It made me wonder. What are the pros and cons of a wood enclosure? Has anyone ever thought to use something like this before? Most have a mesh side or door I was wonder mint if you cut a piece of thin plexi from the outside you place it then that would keep humidity and present escapes.
Anyone ever do this or consider it?

I have a couple of wooden enclosures, they're quite common in the hobby. I used sliding tempered glass doors, though, no wire mesh anywhere on it. I had sliding plexiglass doors in my first homemade enclosure, but within 3-4 years the doors had gotten so scratched up and foggy you could hardly see through them, and they starting bowing in the middle to the point they were difficult to open and close.
If you were planning to buy one and modify it, it depends on how large it is and the shape on whether or not it would be appropriate. I would completely get rid of the mesh and replace it with something else, but it might just be less effort to make your own from scratch, depending on how handy you are.

Re: Did my mind fly the chicken coop?
Thank you for the reply! I figured they all thought I was nuts and were ignoring me! Lol
It seemed like a decent idea and they seem well made and weather and water proof so that was a plus. I was going to have plexi glass cut and get rid of the mesh.
Anyways. I got a great deal or so I think of an AP T8 w a RHP so I jumped on it.
