I definitely see this with my Burm. If I'm working in her enclosure she just sits there and looks at me like "meh" lol. It's as if she's too lazy to do anything unless food is involved.

There are poorly bred snakes out there & species that are nervous, stressed and hardly want to eat and thats where the smaller environment push comes from. Not only that but their are people that act like they are a toy and cant control themselves at all as far as letting them settle when they get them home. Impulse buyers especially who want a shiny new toy for a minute. Especially with the Ball Pythons.. Retics and Burm are another Game all together and more fun IMO.

This is what I think too. A lot of ball python morphs look cool but those smaller snakes just don't feel the same. I'd have a Titanoboa if I could have one. They need to hurry up and build Jurassic Park lol

I'm still reluctant in putting my almost four foot female in the four foot cage I'm just afraid that she's going to go off feeding or her personality will change cuz right now she eats every time and she's easy to get out of the tub no issues...

Hide boxes for her size are about 20 bucks any recommendation on an alternate and hide box maybe like a tub with a hole cut in it

My 4' female has been in a 4' enclosure since she was 18" long and 150 grams. I kept her in quarantine for a few months at first in a 20 long. Males seem to be more of a worry wort to me. Ive never had a problem with a Female.
I know if you get a 4' enclosure youll be happy, and so will she. At night it allows then to do snake business.. Up all night, Hide all day. I just ordered some more hides on Wed. My 1600 gram 4' girl is in a Large RBI hide. I dont know if you meant $20 each but heres 2 shipped or $21 from RBI

I have 2 XL and I dont use them... The jumbo is even bigger. Not even a 4000 gram Ball Python needs them, their way to big. They hold all my cleaning supplies instead. The only thing i might do in the future is make the Large Doors bigger because 2 XL hides take up 1/2 of my 4'x2' AP enclosure let alone a Jumbo. Once the water bowl is in the middle theres no room.
    What snake is this for?

Cant see a 4' retic needing close to a Jumbo size at all. Theyre much thinner than Burms. Id go with a Large at the most. My 4' 1600 gram female has lots of room still in a Large. You can always sell them when your done...

Is your 4 foot 1600 gram a Burmese or retic?
