    The probe should be outside the tank? Aren't the under tank heat mat heats the floor basically so inside the tank the temp different?

    Yes the temperatures will be different, thats what a thermometer or temperature gun is for.

    If your thermostat probe is in the tank and your snake pees on it or dumps its water dish then it will change the probe reading. Not to mention when your animal moves the probe...

    EXP: My Thermostat is set to 92 with probe placed between Heat mat and Tub and inside the enclosure on the floor it is 88/91 after regulating for 12hrs...
