I would say just set it up like that first picture, with two hides and a water dish. Your snake won't feel cramped assuming you are getting a hatchling.

Alright, sounds good. I heard ball python babies outgrow small hides pretty fast so I am just going to use some free hide until like ~250g and then switch out to reptile basic medium hide.

That would be a good idea. Saving money is good. I am about to pick up 4 more ball pythons in march to establish a breeding group and i am going to use these little soup cups from a local restaurant here that work perfect for the little ones and are free
