    Eggs!

I'm the proud mama of two precious little crestie eggs (they're my first, can ya tell??). I had my perlite ready and as per Repashy's book set up a container with 2 parts perlite and 1 part water by weight (seems a littly dry to me is it supposed to be that way??). Now comes the waiting! I hope everything turns out, my female is an adult from a previous breeding colony and the eggs are perfect and white.

    Wish me luck!

    Re: Eggs!

congrats on the eggs! sometimes i add an extra part of water by weight. i've had no problems as long as you weigh it correctly. if you haven't already, it's cool to look at the egg with a flashlight on it, to see the little embryo. it's hard to get a good look those eggs are so small. congrats again!

    Thumbs up Re: Eggs!

awesome! the mix definitely seems a little dry. i had a whole nervous breakdown over mixing my perlite the first time. drier is actually better though because if it is too wet it will mold.

what temp are you incubating at? i incubate at room temp, which is between 78-80 degrees in the summer and all of my eggs have hatched out between 56-60 days. good luck! (have any pics of mom?)

    Re: Eggs!

I'm surprised you didn't post pictures of the eggs. Of course I would like to see them and will bug you anyway until I see them. Pics of mom, pics of eggs, pics of hatchlings. You have the makings of a good science project! If you want I'll come pick up the eggs and incubate them for you. I don't mind. Anything to help a sister out! (congrats again on those eggs!)

    Re: Eggs!

Congrats! The mother is gorgeous and the eggs are exciting! Is that a normal sized clutch for a crestie?

    Re: Eggs!

Thanks!!! Cresties lay 2 eggs per clutch and can lay from 8 - 13 clutches per season every 3 weeks, it's a long and drawn out ordeal, but I'm very psyched!!
