trying to escape?

Although she can't get out my ball python always seems to be trying to escape-pushing on the top until she falls down or gives up. I take her out often and let her explore but she still wants to get out all the time. I was wondering why? Is it because there is something wrong with her enclosure and she isn't comfortable? Or is this just normal ball python behavior? She is a baby and it is just sad for me to see her continuously falling and pushing on the top of her enclosure.

Just check your temps - it maybe too warm and he's trying to get cooler ... just a thought ...

As long as the temps and humidity are correct and it has comfy hides, I would just chalk it up to an exploring BP. Most of my snakes cruise around every other night. As long as the snake isn't cruising around during the day which should be their sleeping time. If it is out and about during the day, it is either really hungry or it isn't happy where it is and is trying to find a better place.

He mentioned it's trying to force its way out 'all the time' which kinda suggests something untoward..

I find that the more snugly a snake feels in their hide the less they want to escape. That is if husbandry conditions are on point. I agree a picture of the enclosure would help tons.

Yes, either temperature problem or not secure hiding place. If it is really frantic, I would guess too hot, and could dangerous for the snake.

I don't currently have a thermometer, I'm working to get one.

Everyone is asking for a pic of the enclosure but I don't know how to do that so I'll just describe it, she has a small black hide on one side of her cage with a vine-like plant over it, the hide is small but she definitely has space to move around in it so i wouldn't consider it "snug" that side is heated with a red heat lamp that I leave on 24/7. She has two sticks in her cage and then on the other side she has a homemade hide that is a Poptart box with a hole in it and a water dish. The tank is a 20gal tall and I use reptile carpet as substrate. I spray her cage down about once every few days and I do not currently own a thermometer or humidity gauge but I am planning on getting those soon.
