    Caging

Will be getting a rescue boa from Michigan(Thank you, Jo!) sometime in the near future, and was wondering about those 421d Boaphile cages. They are $199 shipped and I would plan on getting the inside heat installed if I bought one. They seem to be awesome cages, and wouldn't have the heat cable hot spot issue that the AP cages do(and not as expensive).

So it's either one of those or a big rubbermaid/sterilite/iris tub. I could always get one of those big tubs from Reptile Tubs... Only $50 shipped that way...

Just wanted a couple of opinions.

Depending on the boas sex (if it's a boy, he'll be smaller) he could live his whole life in a Sterilite 1996 tub (runs about 14 dollars at Target or Wal-mart). If it's a female, I'd definately go with the Reptile tubs. I'm a tub-lover I think they work great... and can't be beat for cost.

    Re: Caging

Sounds MUCH better for my budget, LoL. I may have to make a trek to WalMart or Target later on this week and see what I can scrounge up

The boa "should" be a male, as "he" is only 4.5ft and about 3 years old. I'm thinkin' it's a lil' boy. It will probably go to the vet later on, after it settles in, and get a check up and a probing.

I should probably get over to Home Depot or something and get a 4 or 5-shelf unit to put all of these tubs on, LoL.

    Re: Caging

I will just say I LOVE my 421D. Much simpler to get into and clean than a tub. Fully stackable as well.. you know, just in case.

Unfortunately the stupid boa still rubs her face in it. Need a six footer.. *sigh*

Go to www.reptiletubs.com . They have some pretty big tubs! I wouldn't give Boaphile a cent. Worst customer service around.

You got lucky. A lot of people have had major problems with his customer service.

    Re: Caging

That tub would probably work well enough for this small boy until I can get enough money for the Boaphile.

I will look at dollar stores and the like for tubs that are that size but taller, or I might just get the Reptile Tubs behemoth. We'll see how it goes.
