    BRB Cool Side

Setting up my animal plastics T8 prior to snake purchase, I am testing temp gradient. I have a radiant heat panel from pro products, and while the temp on the warm side is 83, my cool side can at times be around the low 70s (71/72). Is this too low? I would be buy a UTH for the cool side, but I only have a herpstat one. Any advise is much appreciated

I have that SAME EXACT setup .....I'm struggling to figure out why your hot side would only be 83 however?

Dangle the temp probe on the cool side of the cage and set your thermostat to 80 degrees.......your hot side will stay at an almost perfect 90 degrees in a normal 68-71 degree room.

I just drill a hole BARELY large enough to fit the thermostat probe into around the edge of the side/back vents.......then simply dangle the probe into the cool end of the cage about 2 inches from the bottom.

I don't use UTH in conjunction with Radiant Heat Panels.....but some people do. Pro Products stated there was no need to.

OP has a BRB not a ball python or boa imperator. BRB's are very sensitive to overheating but they do need appropriate heat to digest. I would aim for the hot side at 85*F, the cool side should be fine.

Yep .. I've had a few BRBs over the years and not one of them particularly liked it too warm ..

My mistake, I read the OP as BCI instead of BRB for some reason.
