Morphs on different genders of BP's
So, say I have a breeding pair of ball pythons. For example i have a male pastel banana and a female enchi pinstripe. what would happen if they were switched, the female being the banana and the male being the enchi pin?? would it produce different offspring or does it not matter what traits each one posses just so long as they are in the mix? Might be a dumb question that can be answered by my common sense. But i'm not sure!

It does matter in the case of the specific traits you chose because banana/coral glow happens to be sex-linked. Most are not, and therefore it won't matter. In the case of the banana, it depends on the specific genetics, which can generally be determined if you know which parent was banana (not applicable if it was offspring of a male banana and a female banana - can't tell then).

It would be exactly the same no matter which one was the male / female. However, keep in mind that one male can mate with up to 5 females, in extreme cases I've even seen them paired up with up to 16 females. So if you were starting out trying to decide which snakes to purchase for a breeding project it would be most efficient to get a male with the most genes as possible. Then you could even buy normal or single gene females and get a whole rainbow of colors from your mix. For example it would be the same if you had a normal female and a pastel banana enchi pinstripe male. Then if you wanted to expand your operation you could get another normal female for cheap or free and pair up with your male doubling your breeding operation.

when you say "generally be determined if you know which parent was banana" do you mean which parent of the offspring that you just produced or the parent of the animal you are going to breed?

Thank you, I'm thinking i am going to get one powerhouse male and then two single gene females at repticon denver. I feel like two clutches of eggs will be enough to try and sell first time around. Also, are there genetic problems when you breed babies back to parents, sorry.

As far as the combos they will be the same what will differ is the sex ratio and it will depend what you have.
If you have a
Male Banana Male maker the Banana and banana combos produced will be males the rest will be females, you may produce a female banana every now and then but it will be rare.
Male Banana Female maker the Banana and banana combos produced will be females the rest will be males, you may produce a male banana every now and then but it will be rare.
If you have a female Banana you will produce a normal sex ration and all male banana produced will be female makers.
Female maker males and female banana commend higher prices and are in higher demand.

Honestly, I don't think the exact mechanism of inheritance has been determined. Basically there's something a bit odd going on with the inheritance which doesn't make it act like a typical sex linked gene but it is somehow related to sex. Generally males who had a male banana parent will only have male babies come out as banana. A male with a female banana parent will generally have only female babies come out as banana. A female banana will have both male and female bananas.

Excuse the ignorance, but is it safe for a male bp to be paired up to 16 times? Is that going to cause him any issues down the line?

You have to be experience and know when enough is enough and when to pull a male out of rotation, there are people that have killed their male because they were overbred, it can quickly take it's toll on a male, but same goes with young males with just a handful of females.....a good typical ratio it between 1.4 and 1.6 after that I suggest to back up the male.
