    New T10 for my BP

I finally got my AP T10 and im just as stressed as im am excited.

Ive got a uth and an rhp both with thermostats but i e never used heat tape or a rhp before. Im stressed about the rhp being too hot but i think im just worried for nothing.

My other concern is the humidity, i just put fresh substrate in and its at 87%. Its a 1/2 inch layer of coconut/soil mix so while it hold its humidity well im hoping it being thin will balance out the humidity soon.

It'll be fine. I use AP cages for my snakes and every time i change substrate, it spikes to like 90% for a few days. Then it slowly comes down. I generally keep it around 70-80% along with all my other snakes except the Dumerils.

Key is what you are doing by keeping the substrate layer thin. I found when i had 1" thick stuff, it would dry out great on the heat tape side but the cool side would stay damp and get a earthy/musty smell to the stuff. Since i dropped it down to enough to cover the floor, it keeps good humidity plus doesnt stay damp and also makes finding poop easier. This applies mostly to my boas as they bury poop. My BP just drops the deuce on top.

Just got my AP cage set up and running a little over a week ago and can confirm that humidity does go down after a few days! I was using Reptichip and everything skyrocketed to 90%! I had to swap and mix half with Reptibark and sure enough, 5-6 days later it's lowered to a very nice 65-72%

Also a new keeper here and I admit I was abit nervous too (ok maybe still a little nervous!) but once things settle it starts becoming fun and exciting! RHP's are amazing and you will love it!! You got this!
