Power out! HELP!!

I'm a new bp owner too(just got my first one in march) but I did some research about how long they can go without heat, and everything I read said that as long as the room stays above 70 degrees, it should be fine for a few hours. But not more than 24 hours or it'll effect the health of the snake.

It's ok. If you need to you can take him out again, gently, and have him with you for heat. Everything will be ok. Breathe and we can work through it.

I realize it's a bit late but to keep a snake warm in an emergency you can secure it in a bag and then put the bag down your shirt.

Overnight put the bag into a small tub and put the tub under your bed covers with you. The tub is to ensure that you don't roll on the snake in your sleep and crush it, and to keep any snake pee/poop from soaking into your bed if your snake makes a mess.

Hoping your power has been restored. I use to get all panic'd everytime we had a power outage also - I ended up buying a portable generator to run my snake setups when this happens. The best $250 I ever spent just in peace of mind.

I also keep those portable hand warner things sold at Walmart in the sporting goods section. Those come in real handy when its just a short 4-5 hour outage.

Let us know what has happened since you last posted. Had your snake not just eaten - I think you would have been fine for hours since it is summer time but just eating adds another layer of concern. Been there and done that.

Hi I'm so sorry I haven't replied. He's ok, what happened was I sort of slept though the alarm :/ but I woke up just like 20 mins after that.. so I got up and (sort of forgot about this, I should've replied I'm sorry!) was going to make him like a hot water bottle, but my power came back just right after. Thank you so much for helping me! I read your replies and I know exactly what to do if it happens again. And also, did I do the right thing by taking him out..? I think it might've stressed him out. I had him out like last night and we were just chilling and when I went to touch him he striked... I went to pick him up this morning and he like had his head like he was about to strike and when I was changing the water he was following my hand... I might make another thread about the whole striking thing. But anyway that you so much for helping me

What I did when power goes out is put a thick sheet over my enclosures so they're insulated and will keep the heat, I have one specifically for this reason with a hole cut in it where they could still have a little bit of ventelation

Hi, sorry I was just wondering, If the power went out again I would probably do this It's a great idea but I have 2 questions...

-Would you need to cut hole into the bag or something so he can breath..?

- Same with the tub... Would you have to keep the lid cracked?

I use a pillowcase as a bag, no need to cut a hole just tie off the end

He's not talking about a plastic bag, he meant a snake bag...you can use a pillow case. No holes needed.
The tub should have small holes all around.
