Feeder rats
Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone knows of a good company online to order feeder rats? My local petstore for some reason has not been ordering any the past few weeks & I'm getting quite frustrated. I just signed up on a site to order some but they wanted $30 in shipping for a pack of 10 rats. Anyone know a site with lower shipping fees?

Shipping is always going to be up there, they are frozen so need to be over nighted. You need to buy in bulk to make it worth it.

I pair orders with my friend and we split shipping. Or, you can get feeders at your local Reptile show.

Yes, the $30 for shipping seems high but it will still be close to that $30 shipping if you order a lot all at once. Most people order a large amount and split the order between friends to cut the shipping costs down. Otherwise it's local shops who charge more.

Re: Feeder rats
I have (8) snakes so $30 to ship 6-8 months worth of feeders is pretty reasonable to me. Even when I only had one snake it was still more cost effective to order in bulk than to pay pet store prices. You just need to place a larger order to offset the shipping charges.

I can't pay the pet shop prices. So I order in bulk as well. If you order enough feeders. The shipping only adds a few cents per rat. Which will still end up costing less than pet shop prices. Just get you one of those small freezers and stock it up. If you do it right you won't have to order but a few times a year.

Shipping rodent is pretty expensive and $30 is pretty low, the issue with ordering rodents you need to order bulk 100+ otherwise it's not worth it ad you are better off to find something local.

I have the same issue. But, if anyone's close to the 10994 zip, I'd be willing to split orders to save on shipping.

That's why we all get more snakes, to get feeders at a more economical price and make it more worthwhile!!
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
