"Hot" keepers in Louisiana
i was just wondering if there were any "hot" keepers in Louisiana, or i guess localy around ascension parish. ive been very interested in keeping venomous snakes for a while and did some research on the legalities of owning them here. that being said, can anyone give me an idea of how i can go about receiving training on handling and maintenance and what not?

Neal on here can offer some advice for Louisiana. Permit system is pretty clear from what I know, and easy to get with application pending any local ordinances in your parish.

Louisiana Gulf Coast Herpetological Society: http://www.lgchs.org/

The Museum of Zoology on the La State University's Baton Rouge campus may have other leads.
Questions like the OP's remind me of a book about South African snakes that I browsed through many years ago. It had a chapter that was titled something like "Everything you need to know about keeping venomous snakes in captivity." The chapter body was one word, "Don't."
