    Yes, that's a che(ceramic heat emmitter). It produces no light but a ton of heat.

    You have to make sure you use the proper fixture with it. Failing to use the right one will burn the che out. I recommend the wire basket style. The other versions can trap to much heat around the base of the che and ruin it cutting its life short. I used both of mine in the wire bracket style and never had an issue.
