    Where To Get Mice?

I was wondering where to get feeder mice or if it would be best to buy them online. I am thinking about getting either a corn or bp snake. Which would you guys recommend?

There are many suppliers that ship.

You may have one near you though that would allow you to save money and pickup orders instead of shipping.

Also most reptile expos will have a feeder provider or two. Usually they will let you place the order online and pick it up at the show so you get just what you want and make sure they have it.

I've used Rodentpro many times and have never had an issue.

I just received my first order from perfect prey in the mail last week. They have a fantastic reputation and I was pleased with the order and will order from them again. I did find that the vast majority of my lg mice (18-32 grams) were in the smaller range though. Only 4 were bigger than 24 grams.

I would try to go to a reptile expo if you can though. You can buy feeder prey there as well as check out corns and BPs. They are very different snakes, I have both. If you are leaning towards corns, my two cents is to look into Kingsnakes as well. Amazing snakes in my opinion. My favorite snake is my King and my BP is a very close runner up.

If you buy in bulk the shipping melts away. I have a chest freezer I keep my rats in and usually only make two orders a year. I buy enough each time that it is far cheaper to pay the shipping fee than buying the same amount of feeders at a pet store. Plus most pet stores don't carry XXL rats.

    Never tried any birds.

In the past I would order what I needed as well as what I was going to need. Then if they out grew the small feeders before I ran out I would just feed two feeders until they were done and then move up in size. Or....... Get another snake that could eat the smaller size. Lol!

    Re: Where To Get Mice?

I bought some frozen mice at PetSmart. They seemed okay, but I liked the ones I got from a privately owned place better. So, maybe, avoid the big pet stores--or maybe it was just that PetSmart.
