PVC cage, lock jammed, snake inside -.-

Hey everyone... 2 of my PVC 4x2x16s have an issue with the middle lock that uses a key. They are jammed and wont open. Each cage has a snake in it so I am panicking trying to figure out how to open them. Anyone had this issue before?

Jiggle it to see if it losens enough to open.

No need to panic. They are plastic so a kitchen knife could resolve a true emergency. Try a little bit of lube. Humidity probably is rusting up the internals a bit...

I tried that as well as using less force, more force, turning opposite direction than usual and all this weird stuff. Relieved weight off the top of them, etc. Nothing worked

What should I use for lube? and do I apply it directly inside the key hole?

The last time I had an issue with a lock I just took out the glass doors completely and slide the lock off the doors. I had one of those sliding locks.

wd40 will work. squirt it in the keyhole and leave it sit for 15 min or so. just don't somehow shoot it inside the cage

I can remove the glass but the lock doesn't budge.

WD40 didn't work sadly. I attached the long tube and put it into the key hole, let it sit for a while and the locks are still jammed.

I'm getting worried. to say the least.. lol

My two cents would be call a locksmith. Just give them a heads up that its a snake enclosure so they don't freak out when they arrive

Powdered graphite makes a good lock lubricant (basically, try scribbling all over the key with a pencil before you put it in).
Failing that, locksmith or break the enclosure (carefully)!
