    retic vs ball

Hi All, just got into the fun of having snek, bought a baby ball python a few weeks ago and things are going ok. (not a great first shed, but tried the hour in a container with warm paper towels the last two weekends and the little fellow looks good) Re-doing his 10 gl kit this week with repti bark for substrate, humidity and temp probes and a hide on top of the undertank heatpad and another hide on cool side. Water bowl he can fit in if he wants to soak.
Over the lat month, four successful feedings once a week so far with live hoppers (they squeak when he hits -- )
I stopped by a different herp shop this morning and they had an advertised retic with the exact same morph as my ""ball". WTF -- did I get sold a retic instead of a ball?

    TLDR:
How can you tell a retic from a ball?

There are some morphs with the same names though... Why don't you post a picture and we'll tell you?

In my humble opinion, maybe if you don't know what a ball python looks like, you shouldn't purchase one. That goes for about any pet.

Many different species of snakes have the same names for morphs.

Lol you'll find out real quick in about 3 months if you got a retic or a BP. My SD retic male went from 2' at 5 months old to just over 6' at 11 months old.

And like mentioned, if you dont know the difference, then you really should done more research before blindly buying. I would never trust a pet shop to give me accurate info especially when you are talking a snake that stays about 4-5' vs if you got a mainland retic, a snake that can potentially reach 10' if you are lucky or 15-18' if you are not lucky lol.

And what morph are you talking about? Most retic morphs are pretty spendy. For example a pied BP is about $400. A pied retic is about $2000.
