Using UTH with a Sterlite tub

Okay so I'm trying to make a under tank hide for my snake and right now I have a UTH I'm just not sure using the Zoo-Med heating pad would melt the plastic. The tub is 12L and I've been reading I'd need a thermostat for it so I'm just not really sure how to go about this anyone have any advice?

Get a thermostat? The other day I was checking and Amazon has one for like 20 bucks that's normally 40.

Do you remember the link for that one? And what should I have the temperature set at for it since it's plastic.

Zilla Reptile Terrarium Heat & Habitat Lighting Temp. Controller,1000W

Best part is it's cheaper than the 500w, lol.

Ball Python temperatures are fine. Just don't let it run uncontrolled

What size UTH would be recommended for the tub?

I don't know what tub you're talking about (is that 12 liters?), everything here is on quarts as I'm in the US.

Here is what I'd suggest: Don't cover more than 1/3rd the base of the tub with the heat mat. I'd suggest covering 1/4 to 1/5 the length of the base of the tub and inset it slightly.

well, just in case you ever need to discuss liters and quarts, they're pretty much equivalent, 32 oz to a quart, 33.8 oz to a liter

12 gallon latch and carry tote?

24" x 18" roughly for the base so...

5-8" wide, and about 12-16" long for the heat mat

    From Zilla that's a medium

Petco's site is telling me nothing about Zoo Med's sizes
