    Hide Boxes

    A silly question here...

These black hide boxes everyone uses, they look lite and flimsy. Not fragile, but rather like a snake going into one will knock it around and lift it.

No one has issues like that? Are these hides heavy enough?

I'm assuming you're talking about the Reptile Basics/Vivarium Electronic hides? If so it's not an issue really if you provide the appropriate size hide. Yes, if you provide one too small the snake will lift it up. But the correct one for the size and the snake will just curl up in it so it's body is touching the sides.

Going to order 4 of the medium ones tonight... two for each side of a split T8. Hopefully the mediums are a good size for a juvie bp and juvie ks. Thank you.

    Re: Hide Boxes

I wouldn't go smaller than the medium hide as they grow to quickly.. at least a medium you can get a year out of.
Id also re-consider splitting a enclosure if its for a Ball. They aren't as big as you think once you do that. Inside Hight is 10", inside width will be 22 "wide each x 22" deep.. Thats almost as small as a 10 gal aquarium.
Buy 1 enclosure at a time along with 1 snake and get another enclosure and snake in a few months when money is available. You'll be a lot happier with your setup, decision and investment. They look great stacked. Save the $20.

Im not going to spring for the expensive ones yet. Mine have been getting along fine with kool Whip containers and Country Crock containers. They make perfect hides..Its def getting to be that time that they are going to need something bigger.
