    Where to buy Burmese Pythons

I'm just looking for prices at the moment, but are there any good places to buy Burmese pythons? I'm coming across a lot of stuff about them being banned or about to be banned. I'd love a bigger snake, but I worry I wouldn't be able to handle a retic. Unless I could find a dwarf retic, in which case where could I find a reputable breeder for one of those? I'm aware of the size of these snakes, I'm fully prepared to provided housing and care for a snake of 10 feet or possibly more, I'm just trying to find one that will hopefully stay under 100 pounds fully grown since I'll more than likely be caring for it myself. But I want a bigger snake, something bigger than my royals.

I'm not sure about Arkansas but I see them a lot at reptile expos here. You could also try fauna classifieds.

Also have you ever looked into boas? I have a good size male bci who's right under 7 feet long. If you still want bigger BCC's get a little bigger. Especially females.

If you're looking on fauna for a burm make sure you find one in Arkansas because they cannot be brought across state lines. I wouldn't recommend a burm if you don't have one to help you with it but it's your choice. Like Boas, male burms are generally smaller so that might be a better choice

While burms don't get as long as retics they get very thick so they can be a lot heavier. If you want a giant python but nothing too big look into 50% or higher super-dwarf retics.

If you want a larger snake that stays pretty chill then look try a female Dumerils boa.

Thanks for the suggestions, it'll really help while I look around. I'd love to visit an expo, but the closest ones I can find are in Oklahoma since I'm nearly on the border, I'd have to drive to Little Rock instead for a burm if they can't cross state lines. I'd already decided to get a male no matter what when dealing with the bigger snakes, whatever type I end up getting, because of the size.

Good luck on your search! We drive to expos out of state all the time. Gives us a reason to travel and check out other cities

A Burmese is a real commitment. I'd be super duper sure you know what you are getting yourself into.

Re: Where to buy Burmese Pythons

Look into VitalExotics. I (as well as other here) purchased a super dwarf/dwarf retic from him.

If you want a snake closer to 100 pounds I don't think you want a super dwarf retic, not sure it will get that big. I'd probably stick with a 50% dwarf retic. Or you could dial in the percentages of super dwarf, dwarf, and mainland.

If you are looking for SD retics, I would check Vital Exotics, Daneiel Solis or Shannon Roepke. They all produce 'accurate' SDs. I wouldn't buy a SD from just some Jos Blow out of the paper as you have no idea if its really a SD or a just a mainland he/she has starved into being small. I personally have purchased my SD/D from Kris over a Vital Exotics and Caesar is awesome. More laidback than my boas and easily one of the top 3 lounge snakes I got. I don't think Shannon Roepke has anything atm but Daniel Solis has some nice stuff up right now. Has an ultra ivory possible super tiger that if I had the caging, I would be all over. He also has a platinum motley tiger that again, if I had the caging, I would all over that too I'm sure lol.

As for burms, I don't think you are really going to find any larger scale breeder selling them as they are on the Lacey Act so they cant be interstate shipped. Will probably have to check your local herp club or burm FB page and try and find a breeder in your state.
