Tricks for getting females in the mood?

I'm wondering if there are any tricks to getting females in the mood to breed.

A few weeks ago I introduced my male for the first time for both of them. He was on her from the git go, but she wanted nothing to do with him and tried her hardest to get away. With him following her every move. I left him with her for a day and a half, before I pulled him and was planning on 3 days. I have no idea if they locked before I pulled him, but I didn't like how stressed she was acting. I ended up having to clean the tub 3 times before I pulled him due to water bowl getting flipped, urine, and the last time when she took a big ol poo. But there was musk everywhere shortly after a quick clean. I was thinking about pairing him with her on a monthly basis until she ovulate or it's obvious she's not going to take. But with how she acts, I don't know if I should continue pairing or not.

Any tips on what to do?

Sounds like she's a girl who gets in the mood when Father Time is good to her. Keep up with your plan and don't sweat it. It is still very early in the season for most folks.

Make sure she's not a he.

I bought her as a she and she built up like a female. So I just assumed female. I just probed her for the first time since I've had her, I've been meaning to do that for a while. and 3 scales on both sides. So I'm pretty confident in female now.

I suppose I keep pairing periodically and hope for a lock.

Sometimes rotating males in and out does the trick.

And sometimes you just have to wait another season for them to be up for it. (I don't want to breed this season... but one of my males and one of my females is raring to go right now... because they are both pressing to escape their cages... and the male really wants to eat (Might be a quirk of my males, but they tend to slam back more rats during the breeding season) and the female is on hunger strike, but trying to also escape.)

Sometimes also keeping them close so that the female catches the scent of the males helps too.

I usually rotate males on a week by week basis so she always has one when I actually plan to breed.

If she's a new female, then she might not know the drill too... first season my normal female dragged my male all around the tank, sometimes still locked.

This is my first season trying to breed. So same with all the balls. I have 1 male, the banana. And 2 females. The Enchi that I'm trying to breed now, and a pastel het clown that's a problem feeder and is still thin but long. I actually keep them along with a young borneo short tail on the same 7 tub rack neighboring each other. So they should be able to smell each other. The male has been acting like he wants to breed to for several months now. Always pacing the front of his tub and trying to get to the females any time he's in a near proximity. And if I happen to be holding both at the same time, he will start trying to rub on her while they're in my hands.
