I wouldnt worrie to much and not much you can do to change it. my female hognose takes everything she eats butt first and my Bps have done it from time to time.

How old is your snake you might want to consider increasing the mouse size I believe now other ppl feel free to correct me but the fuzzies and pinkies arent as health for your snake because of there age. Because they are so young they dont have all the vitaims and all your snake needs. Now im not sure about that so i could be wrong. As for the actual size though my bp is about 16-17in long (estimated cause i cant get him to stretch out on the tape measure) he he can take a full grown mouse.

Re: mouse down tial first
The important part is that he's eating, not really HOW it happens. Head-first, tail-first, hell, sometimes they take them sideways (quite funny to watch)... the fact that he's eating is all you should worry about.

The sideways thing is definatly interesting my bp tried it with the mouse i feed him with last time it didnt really work though. he ended up droping it then tring it again it took him several times to get head first it was pretty funny to watch.

Re: mouse down tial first
Mine took probably over an hour trying to get one of the rat's legs to fold in so he could get it down once when he took it sideways. I wanted to help, but what can I really do? It was already halfway down his throat, and obviously he was determined to get it down that way (or else he'd have spit it out and tried again like a smart snake would).... they're not the brightest creatures sometimes, but hey, it keeps things interesting.

my bp was 17 " 3 days ago, and was 61 g when i wieghed before eatting. i'll continue with the pre killed fuzzies. when should i consider going to a larger mouse? it doesnt look possible that phantom could take down a full grown mouse yet.

Re: mouse down tial first
Not sure what to say other than our bp was 17" when we got her 2 months ago and was eating adult mice from the get go. Not the bigger retired breeder mice but more the normal young adult mice. She's now about 25" long (sorry no current weight) and is taking 1 or 2 mice per week.
I'm sure a more experienced owner would be better to advise you than me about what is appropriate for a snake of that length and weight.
Ours takes her prey head first but it's hilarious to watch Baby fuss and drag her mouse around by the tail if it's not in the exact postion she wants it in LOL.

Re: mouse down tial first
Mine was 60 ounces before i feed the first adult mouse that thing never hit the ground they can take it just find its really cool to watch them eat the bigger things. I was feeding fuzzies at first aswell they can make they change no problem.
