Losing scales but not in shed?

This has been a theme with a few of my BP's recently on our rack set up and I'm starting to worry. Has anyone noticed their BP loosing scales non related to shed? I've noticed a few scales still tinted to scale color coming off my snakes and I don't get it because their husbandry is on point with ambient and hot spots, humidity typically, etc. We mist at least once a day, pay attention to shed cycles, etc.

The only thing I noticed is we added a few plastic PVC 4" pipes for them to explore? Could that be related? You can see the areas the scales have come off. It's not severe looking by any means just noticeable if you're looking for it. Anyone had anything similar? Thank you!

on what part of your BP's body are the scales falling off? sometimes snakes can damage facial scales and rub scales raw on enclosures or enclosure items (i.e PVC pipes). otherwise are u treating your BP's with anything? sprays and oil based ointments/creams can cause their scales to slough off.

It's totally random places, mostly along their backs. And nope, not treating them with anything.

What's the substrate type? Humidity? Usually in racks you don't need to mist but once a week or so, if ever. I never need to mist my tubs. If you're misting several times a day it could be scale rot from substrate that's too damp.

I use PVC to clutter up my tanks and haven't noticed a problem, but check for sharp edges on them. Sometimes there's poky bits.

Thay could be it... we have paper towels as substrate and they work wonderfully. We have individual hygrometers I'm each bin and only mist if it drops below 50%, because our rack doesn't have totally enclosed walls. There are gaps which let our humidity more (this was our first rack design. Our next will not have that as an issue, otherwise we live our rack).
Would you recommend drawing back on the misting and see what happens? Or?
