    Another egg hatching thread

Well this is my first clutch ever, and today is day 63. I woke up and noticed 1 egg had a small slit like an attempted pip.

I've been patient up to this point and decided I would go ahead and cut that egg since he started piping in his own. Well after cutting I got concerned because he was not moving. I tried to get a response out of him and nothing. It appears he drowned in the egg overnight, very sad and unexpected. I did not know that they could drown in the egg so quickly, as I checked on the eggs 6 hours earlier.

With that being said, I cut the remaining eggs. I gave each a gently poke and got a response out of most of them. I hope my first clutch does not turn into a complete disaster.

Thanks I will post pictures later, I bred a normal with a super pastel. I have a homemade built rack currently, but will probably buy an actual rack system next time.

I modified a shelfng system from home depot, worked okay but I think it was more trouble then it was worth. Not sure the quality but Reptile Basics has some fairly cheap rack systems, it is what I'm looking at for my next one.

Here are a couple pictures, hopefully I'll have some better ones when they hatch.

The top photo is the picture of the little guy that didn't make it.

I know the tub I incubated then in was a little small, but I had to make do as I couldn't find a larger one that fit in the cheap hova Bator I used this time, I'm gonna build a better one next season

Are you positive it's dead? Sometimes they're really still so I hope that's the case. That's a big clutch though so I wouldn't call 1 loss a complete disaster!

Well I slid his head to the surface and no response, I left him in the egg just in case he isn't dead. I will check again after work.

Yeah I was not expecting that many eggs, for a first clutch out of my normal female. Up until the point she laid I was questioning if she was even pregnant lol.
