Baby Bearded Dragon won't eat

After getting a habitat all setup, my son went out this past Saturday to a local reptile expo and purchased a baby dragon.
His setup looks good. Temps are good.
He ate for us Saturday afternoon but hasn't eaten since. We have been offering mealworms, dubias, kale..... no interest.
He has pooped twice.
Is this normal for a new environment?

My little guy didn't start eating a lot until he had 3 or 4 days to settle in. It's best to stay away from kale, or feed it very sparingly, and opt in for something else like collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens and escarole. Kale us very high in oxalates and this can have negative impacts on your beardie, especially at such a young age.

What are your temps for the hot and cool side as well as the basking spot? And do you have UVB available? If you could post a photo of the enclosure, that would be great.

Keep offering insects 2 to 3 times a day, dusted in phosphorus free calcium and multivitamin with beta carotene. If there are no husbandry issues, he should start eating regularly once he has settled in a bit.

My son is working on building a new basking spot. This was a shot before we put the temp sensors in.
Basking spot is 100 deg. 88 on the cool side.
UVB is 12 on 12 off.

Not a bad setup to start with. A bit big for such a tiny baby, but it will grow into the enclosure in no time flat. UVB is tricky. Since it's being filtered through a screen top, your dragon should be able to get within 6 inches of the light to be able to get the effects of the UVB. I did this by placing a decorative tree beneath the light fixture.

With some dietary changes in the greens offered, and access to get closer to the UVB, I'd say you're set up pretty well. Your dragon is very small, and likely stressed from being relocated. I feed my baby beardie in a 10 gallon so the feeders don't escape into the cage decor. It works really well for me. Maybe a smaller feeding enclosure would help to get your beardie eating.

Mealworms are a no no for a baby bearded dragon. The problem is the chitin on a mealworm is to hard for a dragon under 14 inches to digest. It's really best to stick with the Dubia roaches until they are alot bigger.

That cage is a great set up..for a much bigger dragon. I have raised dragons for over 10 yrs, they can stress out and quit eating if their cage is too big also. I suggest a smaller cage if he or she doesnt start eating soon. Babies shouldnt go long without eating.
