Can anyone tell me what species spotted python this is?
I got this as a "Juvenile male spotted python". I recently found a spotted python on Craigslist about his same size but this one looks nothing like mine. I started researching spotted pythons and I have yet to find one with the same markings as mine. Can anybody help me find out exactly what species he is? Thank you very much!

The Antaresia genus has spotted, childrens, pygmy, and stimsons pythons. They are all fairly similar but will have different variation in color and size but im no expert in this area just been looking into them a little. I would do a search on the Antaresia genus articles on google for more info.

there are no subspecies of spotted python. Though I suspect that you might have a Stimson's python here. clearer, closer pics of both the head and side might be helpful, but no guarantees.

Here is another picture that shows his eyes better. As for subspecies, I have seen 3 different kinds of spotted pythons being advertised at different websites (ex. underground reptiles). Maybe subspecies isn't the right word but I am trying to find a female to my male as close in pattern as I can. I'm just trying to find out what exactly I'm looking for???
Thank you

I think your confusing species with morph/localty. all spotted pythons are the same species, antaresia maculosa. most spotted python in the US are "ordinary" spotted, cape york (a locality) or granite (a morph). I can rule only one out, this is not a granite.

I have heard of the cape york but not the granite. I love snakes and have had them since I was little but I haven't done any in-depth research on species, Mating, and all the specifics of the heat and humidity etc. I just started with the Deep research over the last few weeks. With that being said, my search continues for a female to my male...Thank you all for your help!

Kinda leaning toward it being a Children's pythons -- A. childreni. I say that because of the ground color and the faded-ish spots. Stimson's and spotted pythons tend to be more intensely colored.

Agreed, looks like a children's python. Spotted pythons have a different color contrast and their eyes tend to be bolder and stand out more.
