    Big Bummer

Had a clutch from my het pied female to a double het albino pied male earlier this year. Paired the same male to a huge proven albino girlie with high hopes of proving him out both ways. She laid over the weekend while I was away and I came home yesterday to find 11 eggs and 1 slug tightly wrapped. I was ecstatic and pulled her off as soon as I could. Candled the eggs to find ZERO VEINS. I am devastated. My poor girl put in so much work for nothing I have no idea what could have caused this. This would have been her fourth clutch and everything went fine every other time.

That stinks man. My albino girl didn't go at all this year. Put me a year behind.

That sucks but also, that's nature. It probably just wasn't ment to be this time. Try again next time.

Sucks, sorry to hear that. I feel your pain. I had a clutch last season from an ivory girl that all looked great, candled no veins. Then had my most anticipated clutch this season, Orange dream het pied to a pastel pied. 8 confirmed locks, 6 slugs. Can't win them all I guess.

    Re: Big Bummer

Thanks for the kind words. It also seems strange to me that 11 of the eggs look perfectly fine while one is obviously a slug. I would have thought all unfertilized eggs would have looked like the slug. Such is the nature of breeding animals.
