    Black Pastel Project Help

Ive been in the process of planning out my projects for this coming breeding season and I have a beautiful female black pastel I would like to pair with something and was looking at my options. Of course I have looked at the possibility of trying to hatch some Super Blacks, but I do not know my snakes lineage, and I have been reading about the "deformities" associated with this morph (although most articles were years old). Questions:
    1. If I were to pair her with another Black Pastel, what are the odds of hitting the Super?
    2. Not knowing her lineage, what kind of deformities, or what is the probability for deformities in the babies?
    3. What are some other interesting pairings that i could make with her? (I have a BEL, Normal, and Bumblebee i COULD breed her to)

    1. 1/4 chance of hitting a super black pastel
    2. The deformities associated with super cinnamons/8 balls/super black pastels are occasional kinking and duckbilling. The duck billing is mainly a cosmetic issue given that it does not interfere with the snake's ability to eat. The kinking, from what i've read, is realtively uncommon. The deformities are isolated within the black pastel and cinnamon morphs themselves and no number of different lineages will prevent it. You just have to play withthe odds with you want viable supers.
    3. As for interesting things, it's up to you really. It dependa on what you like and what you want to make.

Personally I'd put her with that BEL, black pastel + just about any BEL complex = awesomesauce.

Black pastel goes great with lots of different genes my favorites are albinos, bannana, orange dream, mojave, GHI , and piebald. Combos of these genes together can be even more impressive. See what you like on morph market or kingsnake to get a better idea of what the different morphs look like.

    Re: Black Pastel Project Help

Thanks guys, I'm still looking at all of the odds. Im planning on putting my Karma (BEL) with my mystic and looking for some magic there. If I had a mojave I thought about shooting for some Purple Passions from her, but i think the karma/mystic pairing will be neat also. If I can find a male Black Pastel soon for my female I may shoot for the Super Black Pastel, if not I'll pair her with the Karma as well.

Super Black Pastel is one snake i plan on holding onto once i produce it myself. You shouldn't have a hard time finding a black pastel, sub adults might be a little trickier but keep your eyes open. Good luck !

Depending on your budget if you want to get a black pastel to breed to your gal I'd get one that has something else in the mix too. Multi-gene males are the way to go.

Black pastel makes some cool combos with ghost and champagne as well.
