    First feeding

Bought a female Mojave from outback reptiles and she arrived Thursday morning. Feed her a hopper Mouse this afternoon she took it.

How to convert her too frozen rat pups and how soon after feeding can she be held???

Her next feeding try a F/T rat pup wait 24 hours to handle her after feeding.

I'd offer a mouse fuzzy for the first 2-3 feedings before attempting the transition to rats. I don't handle any of my snakes for at least 48 hours after a feeding.

I really think it depends on the animal. I just got my banana from petsmart on Father's Day and they had been trying to feel F/T fuzzy mice (unsuccessfully for 6 weeks). On Wednesday of last week she took a live small rat without instance and is now in shed. Best of luck with the switch. The sooner, the better!

Usually it is easier to switch an animal that is well established so I would recommend 3 to 5 feeding.

It's also better to mate it a tow step transition going from live hopper to f/t rats can be more complicated.

Offer 2 more hopper mice than offer a live rat crawler, if she goes for that repeat two more times and than switch to F/T rats.

When you switch to F/T make sure it is warm enough, thaw nice and slow at room temp near the enclosure to entice the snake to eat and warm the prey up with a hair dryer. Than rather than grabbing the rat by the tail grab it behind the neck and drag it around the bottom of the cage as if it was a live.

    Good luck.
