Don't try this at home....700g female just laid eggs

So heres the story. Over the winter I bought what was supposed to be 2 female double het hypo albinos. Given I live in michigan so it took quite a while before the breeder was able to safely ship them to me. If memory serves me correctly they were both 500ish grams when I got them. When I finally got them, I found 1 of them to be a male. The breeder and I worked out that issue, I have nothing negative to say other than he made a mistake but made it right. So fast forward to this sunday feeding snakes, I find this:

Acting strange, biting but doesn't want to eat, and then you can see what was up.

not the healthiest looking eggs, but still have veins. I guess the 700 gram snakes eggs go into the incubator. Mind blown.

so what the breeder thinks happened was he had the 2 "females" together preparing for shipping. Which normally we wouldn't think twice about, but with one being male, looks like they got busy really quickly. I would never recommend anyone try anything close to this, it happened to be a happy accident where thankfully there were no complications. As you can see it only gave 2 eggs, not exactly ideal. Next time she sees a male she will be close to twice her current weight. It will however will be interesting to see how many eggs she produces the next few seasons.

Guess I get to look forward to the results of a het sunglow x het sunglow pairing.

Ooops. As long as she's okay. I hope the eggs work out. I had something very similar happen with a 800 gram pied female, she laid two fairly good looking eggs but the hatchlings were so deformed that they didn't make it. I have no idea if her low weight or incubator caused the deformity.

Very interested in the outcome on this. Any idea how old she was when the accident happened? I saw an 800 gram female fully ovulated at a pet store the other day. They had though she was a he and had her in a display with a male for about 24hrs.

Sorry to hear yours didn't make it. The way the eggs look doesn't makes me very optimistic, but I will give anything a chance. My incubator has been dialed in for a couple years now, so that at least one variable I'm not worried about.

I'm thinking somewhere around a year, but the breeder wasn't sure on an exact date, no doubt less than 18 month old though.

Right. I'm impressed by the accidental pairing that, of all things, could produce a double recessive animal. Not just hets, or random poss double hets, or anything like that. Crazy.

Wow. What odds for one, them to get it on and done with so quickly and two, for her to actually lay. Hope the eggs make it and give you a visual.

Ah gotcha, yeah is quite the series of events and luck up to this point, 1/16 shot out of 2 eggs, I just hope for more craziness in a couple months. Come on sunglow.
