I checked my ball python's tub hygrometer a few moments ago and it showed humidity had climbed from 50% to almost 65%. When I first set up his tub, I had problems with high humidity and drilling a bunch of holes wasn't solving the issue. Initially, the water bowl was buried in the substrate so it was level with the bedding. I thought contact with heat from the UTH might be the cause so I set it on top of the bedding instead. Viola! Problem solved. The second time it spiked I found that either condensation or runoff from my ball dipping himself had dampened the substrate underneath. Removing the dampened substrate fixed it. Long story short, both times my issue was caused by complications with the water bowl! So if you are having problems with high humidity, there is a good chance your water bowl and/or damp substrate is the culprit.
