If you drill holes and use damp substrate then you will have to drill alot of holes to get rid of the first week or 2 of high humidity the substrate will give you and then you will have to many holes for when it dries making it less humid and harder to heat.
Have to make sure that substrate is dry before putting it in if you want to use Cyprus mulch

I did not dry out the substrate I knew it was moist but I didn't know that it would contribute so much to the humidity. Thanks so much everyone!t

Re: Humidity way too high.
This is an older thread but I figured I'd post here before starting a new one.
Also dealing with essentially the exact same issue and per the above poster's comments I don't want to drill any holes in my T8 since it will probably lead to lower humidity than I want after a bit.
Is there anything I can do to help dry it out in the meantime? Should I blow a fan into the cage? Would it be better to have the glass doors on but with space on the left and right sides, or to remove the doors completely?

Or maybe putting a fresh box of baking soda in the cage?

Re: Humidity way too high.
I’m also gonna hitch hike on this thread. Just put my Dumeril’s in a new 4x2 and her humidity is over 90%😱 From what most have said, it will drop over the next week or so?

Re: Humidity way too high.
Lol it will drop after a few days-a week, had the same experience when I first got a boaphile and put fresh cypress in there. What I do now is pour the cypress into one of my temporary tubs, let it sit uncovered and mix it around a couple times. In a day or so it lets out the initial crazy moisture and it's good to go
