    UTH problems

So I have a Eko Terra 8 Watt desert heat small pad currently under my ball tank, it was spiking up to over 110 degrees so I stayed home all weekend while turning it off and on for temp control but my rehostat came in and it's still spiking up to well over 96 degrees against the glass, I will be returning it but I have to keep it until I csn get a replacement, any suggestions???

When you return it , consider switching to a ultratherm heat mat. They are safer and more reptile friendly on the way the heat mechanism and wattage distribution work.

Turn it off and order a thermostat.

Reptile basics also makes a nice heat mat. Not to get too deep into brand wars but i have had very little luck with anything exo Terra or zoo med.

Yeah, absolutely turn it off as bcr229 said ! Very dangerous for the animal to keep it plugged in and it's defective. It might be your rheostat that is bad also.

Some rheostats/dimmers wont regulate back far enough, in that case a thermostat is the only way to go.
There is nothing wrong with the mat it is doing what it should be doing.
