    Yuck !

Im really worried right now, i went to go take out Rebel and there was a tick on her !!!

I dont know exactly where it came from. She pooped in her cage late last night and so i cleaned it up and put some "fresh" newspaper in with her, apparantly it wasnt as clean as i thought it was.Im pretty sure the tick came in with the newspaper, it was sitting in my garage in a drawer on the floor. I know for a fact that it was not there before this morning becuase its on the very top of her back in a very obvious place.

Anyway, i put some petroleum jelly on top of it becuase the head is burried underneath her scale and i could not pull it out with a tweezer, how long will it take for the tick to die ? will it fall off or will i have to pull it out ??

You never think this will happen to you.......but it does

    Somebody please help

    Thanks in advance

    Brandon.

it will fall off on its own when it starts to suffocate as a result of the petroleum jelly, however unless you catch it and kill it it most likely will not die. you want it to die. since you are using the petroleum jelly method i would recommend keeping an eye on it and testing it with tweezers every so often to see if has loosened its grip. as soon as it feels loose you can go ahead and remove it and see to it that it gets effectively squashed.

    Ok, that sounds good.

    Its not moving anymore

I took out her hides and changed the newspaper and tottally rinsed the cage and cleaned it with bleach and put white paper in there so i can spot it when it falls off.Im on my way out the door in a little bit so when i come back ill check on her.

At first i thought it was the newspaper but im thinking it coulda been the prekilled mouse i fed her the other night from that crappy petstore.Who knows....

    Thanks mlededee

well with ticks you never can tell where they came from. for all you know it could have gotten on your clothes and then you brought it in without ever knowing. the important part is that you get 'em and smoosh 'em! once you remove it from rebel (or if it comes off on its own) you can put a little neosporin or similar ointment on the bite so she will heal up nice and quick.
